An introduction and discussion about the Raspberry Pi board.
We will cover the hardware components of the Raspberry Pi, creating a new SD card system, configuration options, creating users, remote connection via SSH and/or serial cable and GPIO usage via shell commands and Python code.
You are expected to bring your own Raspberry Pi, SD card (at least 4 GB), power supply and ethernet cable. If you have a USB-Serial adapter, bring it too.

Thank you for the reply. I won't be able to get the RPi in time for the event so I was wondering if it was still worth attending? I would usually just go to learn as much as I can but the posting seemed specific that everyone was expected to have an RPi with them. Any advice on whether or not to still attend?

It is fine if you attend, I was planning to do the setup and make the workshop as much hands-on as possible. The thing is I'll bring mine and if there is no one else like you, you can use it during the class. Just try to bring an SD card for your OS.
